THE LIBERAL CATHOLIC ALLIANCE-A DIRECTORY OF LIBERAL CATHOLIC RESOURCES.
Since the Liberal Catholic Church was so named in England in 1918, and perhaps for a decade or so before, a process of growth and diversification has occurred resulting in what may truly be described as a Liberal Catholic Movement.
The purpose of the Liberal Catholic Alliance is to provide a directory of the resources available to those seeking a faith community which is closely aligned to traditional Liberal Catholic philosophy and Liturgy. It is not a jurisdiction in itself, but a listing of participating bodies which stand in the Liberal Catholic tradition
We attach links to websites relevant to our members and to websites of other Liberal Catholic jurisdictions which are not members of the LCA. We also attach links to other websites which may be of interest.
The LCA is open not only to jurisdictions but also to individuals, both clergy and lay.
The condition for membership is acceptance of, and agreement to abide by the agreed landmarks. (Briefly, these require general approval of some fairly traditional Liberal Catholic ideals accompanied by a commitment to use Liberal Catholic based liturgy for at least 50% of public services, but please see "Conditions of Membership" for details.)
Members recognise each other as being Liberal Catholics and as members of the Liberal Catholic Alliance.
IMPORTANT
Since the LCA is not a jurisdiction, but rather a directory of jurisdictions and individuals, there is no power of suspension or expulsion and we do not exercise any disciplinary control over each other by virtue of membership.
Further, the Liberal Catholic Alliance is not a hierarchy, and we can give no assurance as to the validity of members’ Orders or Sacraments, nor as to their fitness of character or qualification for office, and nor do we, by virtue of membership of the Alliance, accept any vicarious liability for the acts and omissions of any other member.
However, we do hope that we are able to offer to the public a means of access to Liberal Catholic resources which they might be otherwise unable to find.
We pray that your spiritual lives may be greatly enriched by what you find here.
